Skywatchers are in for a treat this month — October 2026's calendar is packed with meteor showers, bright planets, and dazzling views of the Milky Way's glowing core. We imagined the perfect way to catch the show: a hilltop, a telescope, hot cocoa, and two very attentive observers.
October 2026 brings meteor showers, bright planets, and the glowing Milky Way core. Celebrate the month's sky show with today's cozy stargazing hero image.
The prompt behind it
"A cozy hilltop picnic under a vast October night sky ablaze with a meteor shower, dozens of glowing shooting stars streaking in long silver-gold arcs. A cheerful cartoon hedgehog and a round little owl recline on a plaid blanket, sipping steaming cocoa from tiny mugs, pointing up in wonder. A brass telescope tilts toward the luminous core of the Milky Way, which ribbons across the sky in soft violet, teal, and rose. Glowing paper lanterns and a thermos sit nearby, fireflies drifting through tall autumn grass. Cinematic wide composition, dreamy painterly storybook style, deep indigo and plum palette with warm amber accents, crisp starfield, whimsical and awe-filled mood, soft rim lighting."
